Turtle Watching from the Patio - Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico - Vacation Rental Lodging

Our condominium is on the top (fourth floor) and has a penthouse view. We have decorated with beautiful art work from the Mexican and Guatemalan area. We overlook Half Moon Bay with a gorgeous view of the Caribbean.

You can snorkel in Half Moon Bay and watch the turtles come in and lay their eggs on the beach in May. The turtle eggs hatch in the fall and the baby turtles swim out to sea by the full moon. You can also go to the Yal Ku Lagoon very close by and swim with the fish in fresh water.

We are 25 minutes from Xcaret which is a beautiful aquarium-type theme park. At Xcaret you can spend the full day looking at all the wonderful animals, birds, butterflies, and fish, as well as swim with dolphins!

Tulum, Chitzen Itza, and Coba close by all offer a chance to see the Mayan ruins. The Mayan people are delightful and enough people speak English that not knowing Spanish is okay.

The area is full of marvelous restaurants or you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits at the market two days per week and there are two small grocery stores to accommodate all your eating-in needs also.
